- As an adjunct to General anesthesia.
- To facilitate non-emergency endotracheal intubation.
- To provide skeletal muscle relaxation during surgery or mechanical ventilation.
Cis-Curon (cis-atracurium besylate Injection USP) is a non-depolarizing skeletal muscle relaxant for intravenous administration. It is intermediate in its onset and duration of action. Cis-atracurium besylate is one of 10 isomers of atracurium. Cisatracurium, a stereoisomer of atracurium, belongs to benzylisoquinolinium skeletal muscle relaxant class. Cisatracurium besylate binds to cholinergic receptors on the motor end-plate to antagonise the action of acetylcholine, resulting in a competitive block of neuromuscular transmission. This action is readily reversed by anticholinesterase agents such as neostigmine.
