History

History

The story of Brookes began with the establishment of a nascent pharmaceutical company based on a philosophy that regarded quality as the highest value. It was the spring of the year 1986, the weather being still very pleasant for an inauguration ceremony to take place in the green area surrounding the newly established set-up.

Right from the very first day, this new pharmaceutical company started manifesting signs of great professional excellence. The new company began its production with injectible products – a segment that needs great sophistication of equipments and expertise.  It was also the first pharmaceutical of Pakistan to introduce research novelties for treatment of liver related diseases.

Brookes also introduced a new approach to ethical marketing – an approach that focused on the development of amenities for public health and social welfare.

Brookes is also the foremost national company to have 4 international certifications including ISO-9001, ISO-14001, ISO-17025, OHSAS-18001 certifications.

Apart from maintaining a world class standard of quality in operations, Brookes has continually been expanding its portfolio with timely introduction of new molecules.

It was the year 1996 when our licensed product Hepa Merz became brand leader in liver disease segment. In the year 2000, pain and inflammatory remedy Phlogin got listed among top 100 brands of Pakistan. The following year, in 2001, Brookes launched a whole range of highly sensitive Anesthesia products. Again in 2002, Brookes flagship product Pyodine became brand leader in antiseptic market. Brookes Erdosteine became the second biggest brand in COPD/OB segment in 2004. Today, we are proud to hold our market leadership position in more than half the products we market.

With diversification of portfolio, Brookes’ production capacity also expanded. The company’s first expansion took place as early as 1992. Brookes continued to enhance and expand its facilities and now it stretches over a covered area of around 165,000 square feet, including a separate state-of-the-art Cephalosporin facility.

During all these years, Brookes hit many foreign markets. It was the year 1998 when Brookes’ products were first exported to Sri Lanka. This forward looking approach and the will for expansion have helped Brookes become an internationally recognized name with its presence in pharmacies of a number of countries across the globe including Kenya, Vietnam, Tanzania, Philippines Uganda, Sudan, Myanmar, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.

With all these milestones and achievements, Brookes is ready to launch forth on a journey of excellence that has just begun.
